The four-time Pro Bowler, who the Minnesota Vikings released in June, visited the Jets late last month and will be playing with Aaron Rodgers, Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb, a trio of former Packers, the Vikings’ bitter rivals.
newline
Cook played in all of Minnesota’s regular season outings in 2022-23, rushing for 1,173 yards and eight touchdowns.
newline
The 28-year-old was selected 41st overall in the 2017 NFL Draft by the Vikings and has posted 5,993 yards rushing with 47 touchdowns since entering the league.
newline
In addition to that, he had five TD catches on 221 receptions in Minnesota.
newline
Before being cut loose by the Vikings, he was scheduled to count for $14.1 million against the cap.
newline
In his new deal, he’ll earn up to $8.6 million.

Cook has rushed for at least 1,000 yards in four consecutive campaigns, something the Jets haven’t had at their disposal for a long time, with Chris Ivory being the last running back in New York who’d run for 1,000 yards in a single season (2015).
newline
Breece Hall, who is still a member of the Jets, seemed to be on his way to 1,000 yards in 2022 before tearing his ACL, and New York's run game has struggled ever since.
newline
Like Hall, Cook also comes with some concerns, as he only featured in 15 games over his initial two NFL seasons but has been able to stay healthy a lot more over the past couple of years.
newline
Last season he averaged just 4.4 yards per carry, a career low for the unanimous 2016 All-American at Florida State.
newline
The former Seminole was an integral part in the largest comeback victory in NFL history last season, with 190 scrimmage yards and a receiving touchdown when they defeated the Indianapolis Colts 39-36 in overtime, despite trailing 33-0 at half-time.
