I am proud to say we went 4-0 last week to move to 18-5 on the year. Hopefully, we can run it back today, so let's get into the two-game slate.
Buffalo Sabres vs. New York Rangers
This is a game between two struggling teams, as the Rangers have lost 8 of their last 10 including 2-1 to the lowly Chicago Blackhawks on Monday. Buffalo has more problems than a lack of palm trees, as they have lost four of their last five games including a 6-5 heartbreaking against Detroit. To put it plainly, it's hard to trust either of these teams especially when both have struggled mightily to score of late. The Rangers have scored two or fewer goals in six of their last 10 games. The Sabres have not been any better as they have scored two or fewer goals in five of their last 10 games. That's why I'll be playing the under in this one. On top of this despite their recent struggles the Rangers have a deeper team, just traded their captain away to try and fire up the team and have a bonafide game-changer between the pipes in Shesterkin. PICK: Under 6.5 goals- 1 unit, Rangers ML - 1 unit
Anaheim Ducks vs. Ottawa Senators
Wednesday's other game also features teams who are not sure who they are. Anaheim has been better than expected despite sitting at the bottom of the Pacific division. This has mostly been due to the stellar play of Lukas Dostal, who has a 2.67 GAA and a .921 save percentage. Ottawa meanwhile as has been the case for a few years now despite big additions (and subtractions) the Sens still show minimal consistency. However, Ottawa is 8-6-1 at home showing they step up in their building. The Senators, who average 3.04 goals per game, should create plenty of scoring chances with Tim Stutzle, Brady Tkachuk, and the rest of the forward units controlling the puck in the offensive zone and creating open shots with quick passes. The Senators should limit the Ducks offense, which averages only 2.42 goals per game. I expect a few goals and a fairly close game but Ottawa should pull out (I'm feeling a 3-2 game here). PICK: Ottawa ML and under 5.5 goals - 1 unit
