We had fun last week, going 4-1 on our official bets, so we figured let's do it again! Here's to continued success with NHL winners on Wednesday.
Nashville Predators vs. Washington Capitals
I am leaning towards the Caps as the winner of this game but it feels like a bit of a toss-up as both teams have struggled with consistency so far this year. What I do like in this game is the over set a modest 5.5 goals. Washington and its opponent have combined to score more than 5 goals in 10 of 11 games this season, scoring at a 4.3 goals-per-game average (43 total). In 75% of Nashville's games this season, the teams combined to score over 5 goals. PICK: Over 5.5 (1.5 units). I don't hate paring it with Caps ML for a half unit after.
Detroit Red Wings vs. Chicago Blackhawks
In a game between two mediocre teams, it can often be hard to find an edge. The Blackhawks are having a rough season with their offence letting them down, scoring only 2.77 goals per game. Only five skaters have four goals or more and opponents can eliminate the offence with ease by shutting down the top line. The offence has let them down but the defence has also disappointed, allowing 3.15 goals per game. Detroit has had similar struggles amounting to only 2.64 goals per game, while allowing 3.18 goals per game. Yet, they have two bright spots that I think will swing this game: first is the play of goaltender Cam Talbot who has a .923 save percentage and a 2.73 goals-against average on 181 shots with 4.4 goals saved above average, second is their top pairing of Moritz Seider and Simon Edvinsson who have combined for 2.8 defensive point shares. PICK: Red Wings ML (1 unit)

Vegas Golden Knights Vs. Edmonton Oilers
There are a few interesting plays here but mine is a bit different than you might expect. Instead of a money line or totals play, there are two props I really like and will likely be parlaying. The first is Mark Stone for over 0.5 points. Stone leads the Knights in assists and points on the season with 5 goals and 15 assists in 12 games. The Knights captain is also riding a 6-game point streak with three goals and eight assists. I see the streak continuing. The second prop is Viktor Arvidsson for at least 2 shots, he averages 2.3 shots per game, only having 4 games this season where he didn't hit the mark and three of them were in the first five games. In the eight games since he is averaging 2.8 shots per game. PICK: Mark Stone over 0.5 pts + Viktor Arvidsson at least 2 shots (1 unit).
