We have a nice night of NHL action this Wednesday so we thought we would provide some of our best bets for free, without further ado, let's get to it!
Columbus Blue Jackets vs. New York Islanders
Okay, hear me out, Columbus has been surprisingly good this year, coming off a 6-1 beat down of the Oilers on Monday night and is 4-3-1 on the year. Their opponent tonight the New York Islanders are also a solid team, but they are coming off a hard fought game against the Ducks. Now they have to fly to Columbus to play the next day. The Blue Jackets are 4th in goals per game so far this year and 15th in goals against while New York is 29th in goals per game so far and 9th in goals against on top of this they have struggled on special teams ranking 28th with the man advantage and 30th on the penalty kill. Lastly the Isles own a 9-0-1 record in their last 10 against the Blue Jackets, which feels very due for some correction. Pick: Columbus ML - 1.5 units
Calgary Flames vs. Utah Hockey Club (not Yeti yet)
The Flames are coming off a tough 5-0 loss to Vegas on Monday. Utah meanwhile is coming off a very disappointing 5-4 loss to San Jose, where they gave up three unanswered goals in the third period. I am a fan of the over here, but I really like the Flames to pull this out. Calgary has scored three or more goals in six of their first nine games and Utah struggles both defensively and between the pipes. Utah also struggles to get shots on net and Calgary boasts solid netminding. Long story short, I expect Calgary to come out ahead. Pick Flames ML - 1 unit (half unit flames ML and over 5.5 goals)
Winnipeg Jets vs. Detroit Red Wings
I love the over here as both teams are offensively focused and have questions on defence. The Jets have been scoring in bunches this season sitting 3rd in scoring and with the league's top power play, while also allowing a ton of shots (31.22). The Red Wings meanwhile have struggled to find consistency on both ends this year and also allow a ton of shots (34.89 per game, 2nd most in league). I like the Jets to win here, but I like the over even more, like the above don't blame you if you want to parlay them together. Pick Over 5.5 goals - 1 unit (half unit Jets ML and over 5.5)
Vegas Golden Knights vs. Los Angles Kings
Just to be nice, I thought I would add this as a little parlay builder, Vegas feels like a lock here playing the Kings on the second night of a back-to-back. The Knights are riding a four-game winning streak, rank first in goals-per-game so far and already beat the Kings once this season; if you need a little juice not a bad play.
